If you’re too busy it can be seen and felt – even on your skin. On the other hand it can have a positive mental effect giving yourself time to care for your skin. This has been proven by an experiment, which Oprah herself has conducted with a certified dermatologist.

Together with the talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey, the American dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer conducted an experiment with 20 women suffering from stress. The purpose was to show these women, that they could achieve more attractive and healthy skin without resorting to extreme measures. The result far surpassed the women’s expectations.

“When their skin began to glow, so did they. They didn’t just have more energy; they also became more proficient in handling adversity in their lives. The way they looked and felt had been changed, leaving them blissful with a new-found understanding that they need to prioritize looking after themselves.” According to Dr. Harold lancer in his book “The Lancer method”.

Here are four skin caring tips, which will benefit you on the inside as well as the outside.

Dry-brushing. Get yourself a body brush with natural hairs and give your whole body a once-over each day. This will stimulate blood flow and aid your lymphatic system in purging the toxins from your system – and this only has to take 3 minutes. Begin with your feet and gradually work your way upwards in a circular motion. Brush your stomach in a circular movement clockwise followed by your chest. Bathe happily. Bath oils gently cleanse the skin and simultaneously keep it moist and soft. Some bath oils turn into foam when exposed to water. Massage the bath oil all over your body, enjoy the scent and rinse. While your skin is still moist, you can massage your entire body with body lotion. Scientific studies show that massage reduces the amount of stress hormone produced in your body, lowering your pulse and blood pressure.

Aromatherapy. Scents affect the state of mind immediately. For example citrus scents have an uplifting effect, while lavender is soothing. With scented candles, fragrance sticks, body oils or body spray, you can create your own aromatherapy and set the mood that you desire.

Put on a face mask. Face masks are the perfect way to tranquility, bliss and the art of doing one thing at a time. Treat yourself to 10, 20 or 30 minutes with a face mask that fits your skin type and be rewarded with better skin and a well-deserved timeout.
