Edible sunscreen

Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant, which improves the skin's ability to guard against UV-rays. At the same time, lycopene is the red pigment that gives tomatoes, watermelons and pomegranates their strong red color. If you wish to improve your “inner sunscreen”, you will have to consume either 4 tomatoes daily, two cups of watermelon or a glass of pomegranate juice and three cups of green tea. Can I use last year’s sunscreen?

Look for an expiration date on the packaging, if there isn’t one to be found, then the rule of thumb is that sunscreen must be stable and retain its full effect for a minimum of three years. Meaning you can safely use the sunscreen that you bought last year, if there is any left. You must always remember that it takes a handful of cream to cover the torso and an almond sized portion to cover the face to achieve the SPF level of protection advertised on the bottle.
