Give your Toolbox a Beauty Check

Yes, it is all about makeup. Do you also struggle keeping track of brushes and pencils? Do not worry - here is the guide to the tools that make a noticeable difference to your makeup.

With great tool in your toiletry bag, you get the most out of your makeup. A thing that is underrated and unconsidered by many. Not only do the right tools result in a higher WOW-factor, they also make the products last longer by applying the correct dosages.

Genuine or Synthetic/Faux Brushes?
Some brushes are made of real hair (e.g. pony or goat hair), while others are made of synthetic materials. There are advantages to both. Brushes with genuine hair are good for powder products such as blush and eye shadow. Synthetic brushes win in return when it comes to liquid and creamy makeup, such as foundation and concealer, because they absorb less of the product.

Tool #1 – Foundation Brush:
A broad brush with flat top provides the perfect result to the application of foundation. At the same time a brush absorbs much less of the product compared to e.i. a sponge. Dip the brush into the foundation and apply in a circular motion from the chin and cheeks backwards towards the hairline - and be thorough not to leave any visible transitions.

Tool #2 - Powder Brush:
With a soft, wide and round powder brush your face powder, blush or bronzer gets a smooth and natural application and finish. Dip the brush into the powder and bash the excess before you apply the rest with light sweeping movements that follow the facial contours.

Tool #3 - Eye Shadow Brush:
Get the eye shadows to behave with greater precision by using a small, firm, and flat eye shadow brush. If you like to mix and fade your eye shadows, you can add a softer, and more oval blending, brush to your toolbox.

Do you manage your Kabuki?
A Kabuki brush is typically small and with a wide short shaft. It is easy to work with and brilliant for mineral powder and mineral foundation. It is also ideal to remove excess powder or to fade a blush.

Choose the right eyeliner:
Eyeliner defines and shapes the eye and gets your lashes look fuller. An eyeliner pencil is a quick and easy solution and particularly good if you want to tone eyeliner out of your eye shadow. However, it can be difficult to draw a sharp line completely. To get the same effect, but in an easier way, you can choose a liquid eyeliner or try moisting your diagonal brush and draw the line with dark, matte eyeshadow.

Keep your tools clean:
Pour a drop of dishwashing liquid in a cup filled with hot water and wipe the brushes till they are clean. Allow them to dry flat on a towel – by letting them dry upright the water can destroy the glue that keeps the brush and shaft together.
