For a while the trend has dictated a rather colorful party on your fingertips. The trend is changing and a look at the catwalks around the world dictates a more simple, elegant, and slightly understated look. However, not to be confused with boring as the more subtle colors leave room for beautiful metallic shades and classic red nails.
Insert your fingers in the treasure chest and grab the shades of silver, gold and deep copper. Metallic colors go for the win this season! Use them on the entire nail for a luxurious and sexy look. Or make your French Manicure extra chic with golden spikes.
The wine-red color is extra hot right now. Look for Bordeaux varnishes - and the deeper the color, the better. Fear not the darkest shades of red, even the close-to-black ones.
Polished nails often equals a shiny, almost glossy look. But why not go for a more matt finish? Not to confuse with a dry, worn-out look, but by adding a discreet matt effect you will get the subtle look you want this season. Find your own look, i.e. try adding the matt polish on a few fingers and leave a few shining. Or apply the matte polish in a half moon or as a stripe on top of the shiny nail polish.
Nude is still a Hit
The well-kept, naked look still stands (and also has the advantage that bright nails give the illusion of long, slender fingers). Soft shades like beige, light peach, pink, and milky white is still popular - either in matte versions or with discreet shimmering effects.
A wave of blue
Dusty gray blue, dreamy light sky blue, cobalt blue, navy blue, petrol blue, azure - think all versions of blue. Anything goes as long as it is blue.
Let one Escape
Amidst all the elegance and minimalistic trends, there is (thankfully) still room for a little fun. However, in a slightly small scale, where one single nail can be left a bit more edgy. Paint it a different color, add a matt effect or combine with a bit of metallic to the remaining classic fingernails.
